Global Citizenship & Youth Work

What is Global Citizenship?

Global citizenship is a sense of interculturalism and it allows one to reflect upon different experiences and perspectives to increase their understanding of diverse needs and rights across cultural boundaries (Ibrahim, 2004 and Shukra et al., 2004).

Education for Global Citizenship promotes global sustainable development, social justice, social cohesion, equality, inclusion and integration (Scotdec, 2014 and Shukra et al., 2004).

Global citizenship encourages people to reflect on their attitudes and values, and supports them to develop critical thinking skills (Scotdec, 2014).
